What is Nutripreserve® AMY
Nutripreserve® AMY is a liquid mixture based on organic acids that has been developed to prevent feed losses in liquid feed and wet co-products. Due to the acidifying effect, the growth of pathogenic bacteria, fungi and yeasts is inhibited, thereby stabilizing the feed value. The product is suitable for administration via drinking water and liquid feed of livestock.
The effect of organic acids
There are several sources of spoilage in liquid feed, such as bacteria, yeasts and moulds. This is because the high humidity creates the perfect growth conditions for these micro-organisms. Ultimately, these micro-organisms can rapidly reduce the nutritional value of the feed. Organic acids have an antibacterial effect that is related to the lowering of the pH. Reducing the pH in the liquid feed and stomach inhibits the growth of potentially pathogenic bacteria and improves protein digestion. The most commonly used products to prevent fungal growth are propionic acid and sorbic acid. In addition, formic acid is often used to reduce yeasts in (liquid) feed.
